When Zero Looked (Almost) Good

2016 started off with a thud, as turbulence in China’s stock market triggered selling pressure in most other global exchanges. The S&P 500 index declined almost 6% in the first week. We have seen such weeks before, and learned to avoid jumping to conclusions.

Since 2007 there have been a dozen weeks that moved 6%. Half of these went down, the other half up. Bad markets sometimes herald good opportunities and we see a path for gains in 2016. Read more…
